Ever notice how easy it is for some people to find someone? Some people, maybe you, seem to always have a boyfriend or a girlfriend. How do they do it? I ask myself that all of the time. Then, recently, I realized the more important question is "why" do they do it? Why do some people have a constant need to be in a relationship? It could be human nature of not wanting to be alone, a need for attention, the ideas we are bombarded with daily of finding fulfillment in a relationship and sex, or it could just be that those certain people are all very attractive.

As a freshman here at Clemson, I spend a great deal of my time pouring over my course handbook and making sure that I am taking the right courses for my major. One of the first things that I noticed right off is the rather large amount of foreign language that I am required to take to graduate.

I don't know how you'll feel, but I know I was feeling pretty dismal after putting together this month's issue. What with news of the Real Id, the thereat of our 2nd Amendment rights being taken away, and a never ending presidential race that is downright painful to watch, the world seems like it's falling to pieces.

Andrew L. Yarrow, the Washington Director and Vice-President of the "non-partisan" research organization Public Agenda, wrote an op-ed last month that called happiness and self-fulfillment "selfish, and unpatriotic." Of course, he didn't actually phrase it that way.

Imagine living in a country that has passed a federal mandate which requires every citizen to carry a national identification card. Only with this card will people be able to enter federal buildings, drive cars, fly on commercial airlines, open bank accounts, get a job, and travel freely among the states.

Last semester, I took a class at Clemson that changed the way I look at the world and several of its important issues. The class was Economics 211 with Dr. Benjamin, a class I highly recommend for those of you who would just like to be more informed about the world around you.

On March 18, the Supreme Court of the United States heard oral arguments for District of Columbia v. Heller, a case which calls into question the meaning of the 2nd Amendment. In 2003, six Washington, DC residents brought a lawsuit challenging the constitutionality of the District's Firearms Control Regulation Act of 1975 which prohibits DC residents from owning handguns and regulates the storage and handling of rifles and shotguns by lawful owners.

As each year passes with a new incoming class of students at Clemson University, some of the more legendary moments of the Tiger Town Observer fade from the collective memory. While upperclassmen may remember such great moments as a fake anti-war rally, or, the raffle of an AK-47, freshman and sophomores may only hear of these infamous occurrences as rumors or myths.

Election Day, 2008 is drawing closer and closer. And with the choice of candidates presented, I have made my position very clear in the fact that I will not vote for John McCain for president. Period. (I'll add that I even went so far as to make that statement my Facebook status, which makes it super-official.

Lately I've been thinking of adding a new pastime to my repertoire. Fortunately for the environment and the public good in general, I've decided to divert my resources and energies into the Earth Liberation Front. As a show of my commitment to the cause, I burned my own house down upon my realization that it was enlarging my carbon footprint to an unacceptable level.
